ELLIJAY, Ga. (WDEF)- Another candidate in the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate in Georgia made a stop in our area Thursday.
Representative Buddy Carter of Savannah made a stop in Ellijay at Poole’s Bar-B-Que to speak with voters.
Representative Carter is running against fellow Congressman Mike Collins and former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley for the right to take on Democratic incumbent Senator Jon Ossoff this fall.
He says his top issues are immigration, the economy, and supporting President Trump’s agenda.
We also asked him about his plan to help Northwest Georgia deal with the ongoing forever chemicals crisis.
Rep. Carter said as part of his Congressional committee duties, “This is something we’ve been working on and we continue to work on. We want to make our country safe. We want to make our water and waterways safe and that’s why we’re working diligently in the energy commerce committee to do just that.”
Election Day in Georgia is in less than two on May 19, with early voting ongoing.
