The Take: It’s Time to Take Georgia Seriously

I had my doubts about Kirby Smart. Could he take Georgia to the next level? You could count on a successful season from Mark Richt but he never led Georgia to the promised land. We are now in year two with Kirby. Georgia is undefeated and have demolished Florida and Tennessee. He has shown that he is a fantastic recruiter. What’s not to like?

Unlike Tennessee, all is peachy in between the hedges. The coaching is on point and the players are performing well. It still amazes me how well this team is doing in Kirby’s 2nd year. How many times have we seen a coach come in and be this successful in such a short period of time? Having a good recruiting base in your state certainly helps.

Usually, when the SEC is mentioned, It’s not too long before Saban and Alabama are hailed as the greatest of all time. I think that narrative is about to change. In two years, people will be talking about the Bulldogs as the creme de la creme. Heck, it could be sooner than that. What was the big turnaround? I’m not sure. I do know they play nasty. The defense flies around like a pack of rabid dogs. The offense is precise. There is no doubt about it, UGA can win the National Championship. Boys, I’m telling you, Georgia is a dynasty waiting to happen.

I’m a Kirby Smartian. I’m a Kirbster. I’m whatever the wacky frat boys decide to call themselves in honor of Mr. Smart. One thing is for sure, Kirby Smart is the real deal. Watch out Alabama, Georgia is coming to take your spot on the SEC throne!
