OOLTEWAH,TN (WDEF) – An East Hamilton High School student is receiving national recognition for a short film she created. Rayna Wright took third prize in C-Span’s Student Cam Documentary Competition. Her film “A Long way from Prosperity” looked at ways to solve the homeless crisis in America. Wright earned a $750. Today, the student body got to watch her film.
Rayna says, “I don’t think it’s normal to see people without a home because I think the housing is a human right. So, to see people without homes on the street, I think that’s unbelievable honestly. And I, in my mind can barely fathom that thought. So, I decided to I guess bring awareness to it and hope that people would look to change it.”
Wright’s film drew additional praise for incorporating the values laid out in the Declaration of Independence for her plan to fix the homeless problem.
