SCOTTSBORO, Alabama (WDEF) – The Scottsboro Fire Department is calling a local Elementary schooler a hero.
They presented Dash Duncan with a Fire Safety Hero award last night.
Dash noticed smoke in the bathroom at Nelson Primary School and quickly told his teacher.
The smoke was coming from a light fixture, so they evacuated the school.
Fire officials say school officials were able to deal with the situation quickly and safely because of Dash’s alert.
They say that Dash’s actions show us that even small actions can make a big difference.
His mom shared some of his reactions:
“Wow I can’t believe I’m famous!”
“Mom did you know I’m a hero?”
“God thank you for letting me save my classmates.”
