Maverick Billionaire Ted Turner has died at the age of 87.
He was an outrageous pioneer in both business and television.
Turner founded CNN and established TBS, TNT, and Turner Broadcasting.
In the sports world, he owned the Atlanta Braves, established the Goodwill Games and a pro-wrestling network and won the America’s Cup in yachting.
Turner twice challenged Fox founder Rubert Murdoch to a fist fight, but said they later made peace.
His Chattanooga connection was that Turner attended McCallie School as a dorm student.
He later came back to be honored after making major donations to the school.
Turner was once the largest land owner in America and kept the nation’s largest bison herd.
He once bragged “If only I had a little humility, I’d be perfect.”
