CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The 79th Annual Tennessee Strawberry Festival in Dayton is going on all throughout this week.
While preparations were still underway earlier in the day, organizers say the festival has a long-standing reputation for being a community favorite.
From carnival rides and live entertainment to pageants and contests, the festival offers something for everyone.
Organizers explained that the entire event is made possible through volunteers who dedicate their time each year to keep the tradition alive.
They are now inviting the community to come out and take part in the festivities.
“Tonight is free. All the games are free,” organizer Molli Tallent said. “We will have food for sale, but everything else is free, just to try and get the community involved. The Chamber of Commerce wants to support its members and its community, and our Strawberry Festival Committee is absolutely the best.”
The festival will continue throughout the week, ending with a big parade on Saturday.
