CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- With the American World Cup just three weeks away, Chattanooga soccer fans may soon be able to get to see some of the world’s best players up close.
The Spanish national football team will be hosting a community training session at The Baylor School on June 6.
This is while La Roja stays in Chattanooga to train for their World Cup matches, as they look to win their second World Cup following their breakthrough in South Africa in 2010.
They are coming off capturing the European championship in 2024, and are considered one of the favorites to win this year’s tournament.
Fans selected from a drawing will be able to view that practice session for free, giving them a unique opportunity.
Tim Morgan, the president of the Sports and Events Corporation, said, “To be honest with you, we are humbled as a community that Spain chose Chattanooga. This is international soccer at its best, and to be honest with you. I don’t think we truly know what this is going to look like other than the fact that we’re part of the World Cup initiative and that’s pretty exciting.”
Fans interested in attending the session must apply by June 1st at 5 p.m.
A link to that application is here.
