Lookout Mountain Incline Railway to reopen April 24

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A beloved Tennessee Valley site will be back open for business starting April 24.

The Lookout Mountain Railway has been closed for repairs and will be reopened Wednesday at noon.

CARTA officers say their main priority with maintenance was passenger safety.

“The World’s Most Amazing Mile is in amazing condition and is reopening and ready to welcome our hundreds of thousands of visitors to our unique experience,” said Charles D. Frazier, CARTA’s Chief Executive Officer.  “We have been focused 110% on the completion of our recent cable replacement and our track repairs as passenger safety is our top priority.”

This railway has been in operation since 1895.

Now, 128 years later, the incline is hoping to welcome even more visitors to the St. Elmo area.
