Hamilton County lawyer temporarily suspended

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A lawyer in Hamilton County has been temporarily suspended for failing to respond to the Board of Professional Responsibility.

Arthur C. Grisham, Jr. did not respond to the board concerning one complaint of misconduct, they stated in a press release.

A Supreme Court rule requires the immediate suspension of an attorney’s license to practice law if they fail to respond to a complaint of misconduct. The board did not clarify what his misconduct was.

He may not accept any new cases, and he must stop representing clients by May 29, 2024.

After that date, he cannot use any labels of lawyer, legal assistant or law clerk. He cannot maintain a presence where law is being practiced, the board explained.

Grisham must also notify all his clients, co- and opposing counsel of the license suspension.

His suspension will remain in effect until the Supreme Court dissolves or modifies it.

Grisham may request dissolution or modification of the suspension by petition to the Supreme Court, according to the board.
