These awards were announced Monday morning at the Construction Career Center on Roanoke Avenue.

This was announced as part of the launch of Youth Apprenticeship Week, as leaders say this is an opportunity to address socio-economic issues.

Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly remarked, “A lot of what we’re working on here is addressing disparities here and closing gaps, and income net worth. With all the money that’s coming in here particularly for these infrastructure projects across the board, if we don’t get it right, we could actually make disparities worse, and so we have to get it right.”

Among the speakers at Monday’s event was a representative from the U.S. Department of Labor.
