EPB customers facing scam phone calls recently

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — EPB Is warning the public about an increase in scam phone calls.

Customers started getting these scam calls on Friday.

Scammers are demanding customers make immediate payments over the phone.

These calls may come from a 423 area code.

Sometimes, they even come from EPB’s main number.

“They appear to actually be calling from EPB’s mainline but using the same tactic of demanding immediate payment. A lot of those times they’re referring callers to contact another number that is not an EPB number. it’s not even a local number,” said EPB Spokeswoman Sophie Moore.

EPB will never demand immediate payment over the phone.

If you think you are facing a scam, hang up immediately.

If you initiate the call to EPB, it will connect you with a real representative.
