1 dies in DeKalb County school bus crash, no students involved

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) — A school bus crashed in DeKalb County, Alabama on Thursday, resulting in one death.

The school system said there were no children aboard the bus at the time of the crash.

The school bus crashed with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle died as a result.

This bus came from Henagar Jr. High School.

In addition, the school system said the bus driver was not seriously injured.

The crash happened at the intersection of Highway 40 and County Road 85 in Henegar, Alabama.

No one involved in the accident has been identified at this time.

It is also unclear who was at fault in this crash, or if the driver will receive any charges.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm that earlier today, a school bus from Henagar Jr. High School was involved in a tragic accident with a single vehicle. Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time.

We want to assure the public that no students were on board the bus at the time of the accident. We are relieved to report that the bus driver did not sustain serious injuries. However, we understand the emotional toll such incidents can take on all involved, and our thoughts are with our driver as well.

We will continue to work closely with the authorities. Our priority remains the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and the communities we serve.”
