The King of Pop’s biggest album is getting the full Black Jacket Symphony treatment in 2027.
The Black Jacket Symphony is hitting the road with Michael Jackson’s Thriller, performing the legendary album live, start to finish, note-for-note and sound-for-sound.
And they found one heck of a voice to pull it off.
International vocalist Bogdan Ioan will join The Black Jacket Symphony for the tour. Ioan became a viral sensation after performing Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” on The Voice of Romania, stunning the judges almost immediately with a voice that sounds remarkably like Michael’s.
His Michael Jackson performances have since racked up more than 100 million views worldwide.
Thriller — From Beginning to End
The first half of the show will feature a full ensemble of Black Jacket Symphony musicians recreating Thriller exactly the way fans remember it.
That means an album loaded with songs that basically owned the 1980s:
- “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”
- “Beat It”
- “Billie Jean”
- “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)”
- “Thriller”
Released in 1982, Thriller spent 37 weeks at No. 1, won eight Grammy Awards and went on to become the best-selling album of all time.
So… no pressure.
Black Jacket Symphony director and producer Jason Rogoff says fans have been asking the group to perform Thrilleragain for years, but they weren’t willing to do it until they found the right singer.
They believe they’ve found him in Bogdan Ioan.
And That’s Only the First Half
Once they reach the end of Thriller, nobody’s heading for the parking lot.
After performing the complete album, Ioan and The Black Jacket Symphony return for a second set packed with Michael Jackson’s greatest hits.
It’s essentially two shows in one: one of the biggest albums ever recorded followed by a trip through the rest of Michael Jackson’s massive catalog.
The tour follows the formula that has made The Black Jacket Symphony a favorite among classic-rock and music fans: pick a legendary album, assemble musicians specifically for that record, and recreate the whole thing live.
Over the years, they’ve tackled albums from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, The Beatles, Eagles, Queen and more.
Remember when you put on an album and actually listened to the whole thing instead of skipping around after 14 seconds?
That’s the idea. Only this time, it’s live.
The Black Jacket Symphony Presents Michael Jackson’s Thriller featuring Bogdan Ioan will tour theaters and performing arts centers across the U.S. throughout 2027.
