CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The City of Chattanooga is set to enter into a new agreement with the owners of Erlanger Park.
The agreement surrounds the entrance into the ballpark area on 26th Street through the former U-S Pipe Building.
The extension of that road was built through the old factory by owner Pipe Properties so the street could be expanded around the stadium.
The city had to agree to a new franchising agreement that spelled out what the city would be responsible to maintain.
The city’s engineer, Billy Payne, said, “All of the standard roadway elements, paving sidewalks, signage, striping those things just like any other built and dedicated roadway, it is the city’s responsibility to maintain those and we would continue to have liability just like we would have for any other street inside the city.”
Pipe Properties will be responsible for the upkeep of the U-S Pipe Building as they plan to redevelop it.
That agreement between the city and Pipe Properties will last for four years.
