CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – In partnership with the City of Chattanooga, Hamilton County Parks and Recreation announced plans for a “United 250” drone show to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary.
For most of the country’s history, fireworks have been the centerpiece of Independence Day celebrations.
However, drone shows have become increasingly popular in recent years and offer several advantages over traditional fireworks.
Karen Shostak, deputy director of Hamilton County Parks and Recreation, stated that organizers hope to blend modern technology with longstanding traditions.
“I think we’ve done a really good job of just mirroring this, the modern, the new thing with the tradition and this nostalgia, but drones are happening all over the world, not just the country. So I think that that partnering, that narrating of those two elements is gonna make for a great experience,” Shostak said.
The drone show is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at Ross’s Landing and is expected to begin around 10 p.m.
Additional details will be released closer to the event.
