CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Spain held their final preparations in Chattanooga today before their second match of the World Cup.
La Roja is looking for some offense following a scoreless draw against Cape Verde on Monday in Atlanta.
They now need to find a way to defeat Saudi Arabia on Sunday to keep themselves in position to advance to the knockout stage.
Pau Curabasi, a 19 year old defender who is a star for Barcelona in La Liga, says that despite the disappointing performance as heavy favorites on Monday, he is confident that the team will bounce back.
Questions surround whether the young superstar Lamine Yamal will start on Sunday, as he was practicing with the team during warmups.
Curabasi said (translated from Spanish), “I think we have a spectacular, magnificent squad. All the players can perform at the highest level. We all already know what Lamine is capable of, so if he’s able to play, he’ll help us as much as possible. But I think that whoever has to replace him will do just as well, or even better.”
Spain is leaving Chattanooga Friday evening to head to their match against Saudi Arabia, which is Sunday at noon.
