CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A locally produced film is receiving praise after making its premiere over the weekend in Ringgold.
Hundreds of people gathered at The Colonnade to watch “Set Free,” a movie filmed throughout Northwest Georgia.
The film follows a detective investigating the narcotics trade that is poisoning his town while also becoming entangled in a romance connected to the drug world.
Director Brandon Cannon of Soul Purpose Entertainment said he hopes the movie leaves a lasting impact on viewers.
“I want somebody to be changed from this film, and I ain’t talking about financially. I’m talking about a heart change. If they’ve got a situation where they need forgiveness in their life, this movie will provide that.”
Following the premiere, actress Rayna Wilson shared her favorite moment from the film.
“Having her dad come in there and say that he forgives her. I can’t even fathom that, even as Rayna. I think that is the most beautiful point in this film.”
Actor Logan Polson said he hopes audiences walk away with a message of redemption and hope.
“The last moments of the film really have the heart of what this is all about. No matter what you’ve done or where you are, Jesus loves you. God sees you. You’re not beyond redemption. He’s waiting for you with open arms.”
Soul Purpose Entertainment later posted on social media that the company will be taking a break from filming but is excited about what the future may hold.
Those involved with the production said they are grateful for the community support shown throughout the filmmaking process and during the premiere.
