CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — May 16th marks the beginning of Safe Boating Week in Tennessee.
The TWRA is partnering with the American Canoe Association to provide Kayaking 101 classes at local state parks.
The class fee is just 15 dollars, and you can rent your equipment on-site.
The class at Booker T Washington park will include Adaptive paddling classes for those with disabilities.
Kaycee Maas, Communications Manager at America Canoe Association tells us, “You don’t want the first time that you encounter a hazard to be early on when you don’t have the information to prepare you for encountering those hazards, and these courses that are available on national safe boating week are only $15. You can borrow the equipment for free so probably cheaper than renting and going down on your own anyway.”
Classes will be held on May 16th. Participating state parks include Booker T. Washington, Harrison Bay, Big Ridge, and Warrior’s Path. More information can be found on the TWRA’s Website.
