OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department has some new tools to keep their community safe.
They unveiled three new fire trucks that will go into service.
These are a pumper, ladder, and air truck designed for various emergencies.
The fire department was able to acquire these vehicles for a combined two point three million dollars through fundraising, service fees, and money provided by Hamilton County.
As their service area stretches from Ooltewah to Birchwood, these trucks are needed to deal with rapid development.
Capt. Patrick Kellam of Highway 58 VFD said, “They are building thousands of homes in our coverage area. We do cover 112 square miles of the fastest growing part of Hamilton County so we need to constantly update our equipment.”
The trucks will go into service beginning on Thursday.
