CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – West Star Aviation leaders and Hamilton County officials broke ground on a major expansion that will significantly increase the company’s operational capacity.
West Star Aviation operates multiple facilities across the U.S. and has been expanding its presence in Chattanooga to meet growing demand.
The project includes a 40,000-square-foot hangar, 50,000 square feet of shop and office space, interior storage, and the installation of the company’s first overhead crane system.
Plans also call for an additional story to be added to Hangar 27.
Company leaders say the expansion will establish eight hangars across West Star’s system and create up to 200 jobs over the next five years.
Construction is expected to be completed in February 2027.
Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp praised the local workforce, saying, “and to all of y’all who do it you guys are we couldn’t have the economy that we have we wouldn’t attract companies like West star if it wasn’t for the reliable diligent really capable workforce of this region so we’re really all here to celebrate the good work y’all do every day.”
As part of the development, West Star Aviation is also contributing to the new aviation park at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport.
