CHICKAMAUGA Ga. (WDEF) – Tonight, Chickamauga stepped back in time and glided onto the dance floor as the historic Gordon Lee Mansion hosted its annual Christmas Ball.
The event has become a cherished holiday tradition, bringing the community together for an evening filled with music, history and old-fashioned Southern charm.
News 12 was there to get a look inside the dazzling night, where families, friends and couples arrived dressed in their best to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.
The Hollis family was among those in attendance, enjoying the festive atmosphere inside the historic mansion.
The Cashen family, also guests for the evening, said the Christmas Ball offered the perfect way to welcome the holidays.
“We are just hoping to bring in the Christmas season in a festive and fun way and dress our best. So that is why we are here, and to have a great time.”
The Christmas Ball has long held a special place in Chickamauga’s history.
Many residents say its charm continues to draw people back year after year.
The evening also highlighted a partnership between the Gordon Lee Mansion and Shop the Market at.
Robert Davis, founder of Shop the Market at, said the event feels especially meaningful this time around.
“It feels extra special. I think people really rally behind this event out here in Chickamauga. It is an inaugural event, so people are excited to see something new and different, especially with the European German theme.”
Office Manager Eliza Farmer explained how both groups worked together to create a full holiday experience for the community.
“We are working together with the Gordon Lee Mansion. We have a staff member who is giving tours throughout the day and showing everyone the historical value of the property. Then they can come out, shop, support local artisans and small businesses. They can enjoy wine or blue wine, if you will. And tonight, with the Christmas Ball, the proceeds are going toward helping the Gordon Lee Mansion and the Friends of the Mansion.”
For many who attended, the night was about more than dancing. It was a celebration of community pride and the traditions that bring Chickamauga together year after year.
The Hollis family said they were simply excited to enjoy the night and make new memories.
“Today we just hope to have a wonderful time and get to dance and really enjoy ourselves and just live it up.”
As the music echoed through the halls of the Gordon Lee Mansion and guests twirled across the floor, Chickamauga proved once again that its holiday spirit shines brightest when the community gathers to celebrate together.
