EAST RIDGE, Tenn. — The East Ridge Police Department (ERPD) conducted a traffic stop on Ringgold Road that led to the charging of 2 individuals and a short foot pursuit.
The ERPD says they saw a Cadillac make an illegal U-turn at the intersection of Camp Jordan Parkway and Ringgold Road.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Caderius Word and the passenger as Brooklyn Overton.
After instructing Word to exit the vehicle, an officer felt the outline of a firearm in a small bag Word was wearing.
The officer attempted to detain Word, ultimately leading him to grab the bag with the firearm and evade police.
A taser was deployed after a short foot pursuit and Word was apprehended.
ERPD discovered:
“23 Xanax bars, 10 Oxycodone pills, 28 Grams of Fentanyl, 3.8 Grams of suspect fentanyl, 3.4 pounds of Methamphetamine, and $1110 in cash (which was seized). A Glock pistol was recovered next to Word when he was apprehended.”
Word has been charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm as a Felon
- Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to distribute
- Possession of Xanax with the intent to distribute
- Possession of Oxycodone with the intent to distribute
- Possession of Fentanyl with the intent to distribute
Overton has been charged with:
- Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and Possession of drug Paraphernalia
