CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Could the Chattanooga Public Library expand one day?
That is the hope for current executive director Will O’Hearn.
He floated the idea as a future goal while giving the Chattanooga City Council an update on the state of the Chattanooga Public Library.
Currently, the Library’s main branches are in downtown, Hixson, and Eastgate.
However, he says there is demand for a fourth branch on the eastern side of the city in the East Brainerd area.
O’Hearn said, “All of our research has shown that we need a location out there for the past 10-15 years. That’s all the studies have shown that’s what we should have. It’s a growing area as well. Literally the community has asked that in a RPA survey. It was the second most requested thing they wanted. The first was a pickleball court, maybe we’d be able to do both of them, how about that?”
There is no formal proposal at this time.
