UPDATE: The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office has identified the individual who shot at the drones as 47-year-old John David Possien.
Possien is being held at the Bradley County Jail without bond.
He will be arraigned on November 19, 2025 at the Bradley County General Session Court.
Possien is facing the following charges:
- Felony Reckless Endangerment
- Vandalism Over $1,000
- Two Counts of Assault on a First Responder
BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Bradley County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputies responded to a home near Urbane Road to assist in a mental health crisis that led to shots being fired, on November 17, 2025.
Upon deputies arrival, the initial first responders had evacuated the home due to the man’s actions.
The Cleveland Police Department had searched for the subject in a nearby neighborhood.
The man subsequently returned to his home.
A BCSO drone was used to drop a cell phone so that a member of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Negotiation Team could speak with the man.
The Cleveland Police Department also assisted with the use of a drone and additional personnel at the location.
They say during the negotiations the man fired shots at the drones being used to assist.
A peaceful resolution was reached when the man surrendered.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
