HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- The potential deed land swap between McDonald Farm and Enterprise South Nature Park continued to stir debate at Hamilton County Commission.
The proposal would preserve 1,300 acres at the Sale Creek property in exchange for opening up over 500 acres at Enterprise South for potential development.
The plan has stirred controversy from citizens who would like to see both pieces of property preserved.
The county has opened up a comment portal for citizens to give feedback about the proposal.
Some commissioners wondered if it is too soon for the portal given that the plan has not been formally introduced.
Commissioner Chip Baker said, “I really don’t know enough about the project to even have comments on it. It just seems to me.. I’ve certainly gotten caught up on these other comments, I don’t know enough about the project. So, what we need to do is be very explicit about here’s what we’re looking at, then get comments.”
If eventually approved, the U.S. Department of Interior would ultimately have to sign off on the plan.
