CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)— Chattanooga’s tourism industry is gearing up for a big weekend as thousands of athletes, coaches, and families head to the Scenic City for the Scenic City Fall Softball Tournament.
The event brings nearly 400 teams from 31 states and Canada, filling up hotels, restaurants, and attractions across the region.
Donna Elle, Vice President of Engagement and Impact at Chattanooga Tourism Co., says events like this are a major win for the local economy.
“It means that people get to experience Chattanooga in a different way — and when visitors come here, our economy thrives,” Elle said. “We’re expecting about $6 million in economic impact this weekend, which benefits our hotels, restaurants, and hospitality partners.”
Hosted by Connect Sports, games will be played across several venues, including Camp Jordan, Warner Park, the Summit of Softball, and fields in Cleveland, Ooltewah, and Dalton.
Tourism leaders say large-scale tournaments like this help strengthen Chattanooga’s reputation as one of the nation’s top destinations for sports and family travel.
“When we host these top-tier events, visitors see the best of Chattanooga — our beautiful scenery, attractions, and restaurants,” Elle added. “We were recently recognized by Michelin as one of the best dining destinations in the Southeast, and this weekend gives us another chance to show why.”
With thousands expected in town, the tournament is not just about competition — it’s about community pride, hospitality, and showcasing why Chattanooga continues to shine as a premier sports destination.
