HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- Several residents continue to voice concerns over a potential land deed restriction swap at Enterprise South Nature Park and McDonald Farm.
The plan would preserve 1,300 acres at the Sale Creek property in exchange for opening up over 500 acres of underutilized land at Enterprise South Nature Park for potential industrial development.
Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp says the plan will preserve as much land across the county as possible.
However, an organization called Save Enterprise South Nature Park has received over 9,000 signatures on their petition.
Additionally, Commissioner Steve Highlander who represents the area around that park, says he has concerns.
He said, “A lot of people have contacted me about Enterprise South. People say, “Why did you do that? I was not involved in it. But we need to look at it very seriously.”
This plan still has not been formally introduced, and would need to be approved by the U.S. Department of Interior before final adoption.
