LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. (WDEF) — A man was sentenced to more than 50 years behind bars for several charges including Aggravated Assault.
43-year-old Jarvis Jackson was recently convicted in two separate cases.
In the first case, evidence presented in court revealed in early 2024, Jackson assaulted his long time girlfriend.
According to the Lookout Mountain District Attorney’s Office, Jackson doused her in rubbing alcohol, and set her on fire.
After the incident, the victim ran to a nearby neighbor asking for help.
The victim suffered severe facial injuries and extensive burns.
Later, the victim testified to years of abuse and identified Jackson as the abuser.
In the second case, Jackson married a different woman in May of 2024.
On August 18, 2024, Jackson woke his wife up by spitting on her and accusing her of cheating.
He then got a pistol and shot the wife’s dog while it was laying in its bed.
The Lookout Mountain District Attorney’s Office said Jackson forced her into a vehicle, and threatened to kill both her and her adult son if she contacted police.
Later, they went back to the home and cleaned up the blood, and got rid of the bedding.
After the fact, Jackson fled the residence to stay with relatives in Alabama.
The wife then reported the incident to local police two days later.
Jackson was found guilty of the following:
- Aggravated Assault
- Aggravated Battery (3 counts)
- Aggravated Animal Cruelty
- Family Violence Aggravated Assault
- Kidnapping
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
On September 24, 2025, he was sentenced to 68 years in prison.
“My thanks to Lafayette Chief of Police Stacey Meeks and his team for their relentless work and leadership in fighting for the public safety of our Main Streets. From Charlotte to Seattle, too many soft-on-crime prosecutors would send a defendant like this back onto the streets for fourteen more arrests. Not in Northwest Georgia. We fight for victims, and we put violent criminals away until the 2090s.”
