LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Tenn. (WDEF) — The popular Guild-Hardy Trail on Lookout Mountain will reopen Tuesday, Oct. 8, after weeks of cleanup following two sewage leaks, officials announced.
The Lookout Mountain Conservancy (LMC) closed the trail in September to protect the public.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as the trail is restored. We have worked tirelessly alongside partner organizations to clean this trail as safely, completely and effectively as possible.”
-Robyn Carlton, CEO of Lookout Mountain Conservancy
Crews worked with regional partners to safely clean and restore the area.
The Guild-Hardy Trail, once a narrow-gauge railway, was converted into a public path in 1995.
It connects to Civil War sites like Cravens House and draws tens of thousands of visitors each year.
