CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF) — The IBMA Business Conference has officially kicked off in Chattanooga, drawing musicians, songwriters, and industry leaders from across the globe for a weeklong celebration of bluegrass music.
The five-day event began with the IBMA Business Conference, providing a space for artists to network, learn, and showcase their talents. Workshops, panels, and other sessions offered attendees the chance to dive deep into the business side of music.
“This is my first time being here, but I’m just here to meet people and play music,” said Joseph, an attendee. “It’s great to see all the shows and an amazing experience to be around people who are so talented.”
Industry professionals also highlighted the opportunities for artists to connect with venues and event organizers.
“Going on in the room, it’s called Gig Fair, and it’s kind of like speed dating for talent buyers,” said Mary Beth, Executive Director of the Earl Scruggs Center.
Business takes center stage early in the week, but by midweek, the IBMA Bluegrass Ramble transforms Chattanooga into a hub for live music. From September 16th through 18th, downtown venues will host a series of performances highlighting bluegrass talent.
“On Friday, we have IB Bluegrass Live, a street festival taking over all of downtown Chattanooga,” said Emily Dewey, Director of Communications. “We’ll have three main stages—the Visit Chattanooga stage, Tennessee Sounds Perfect stage, and the Pinnacle Financial Partner stage. And we can’t forget Thursday night, which is our big award show hosted by Steve Martin and Allison Brown. It’s very exciting.”
