OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF)- A development in Ooltewah that was rejected last week by the Hamilton County Commission was revived Wednesday.
The Thrive Dairy Farms development on Snow Hill and Amos Roads behind Ooltewah High School had been voted against due to concerns on traffic impact and the height of the building.
This development would be located near the section of Snow Hill Road where a 16 year old Ooltewah High School student died in a car crash last year, prompting the county to conduct a study of that road.
Developer Mike Price argues that the vote against, which occurred following last week’s approval of the controversial Plan Hamilton, was out of line.
Price said, “Everything that we are doing ought to check every box whether you’re anti-growth or not, or if you’re pro-growth, it checks every box. So as I would see it, you may not like the development but I don’t see a reason that you could vote against this when we’re achieving the things all along we said we wanted to do.”
It had been allowed to return to the floor following concessions from the developer.
These came in the form of an amendment to add a turning lane on Snow Hill Road and two right hand turns into this new development, all at the cost of the developer.
The Commission elected to reverse their decision and approve this project following these concessions.
