CLEVELAND, Tenn (WDEF)– The City of Cleveland announced a new initiative today.
Cleveland city officials said they hope to establish a new Arts and Entertainment District right in the heart of downtown.
The city says this will be an important step forward for Cleveland.
The former Whirlpool plant, which was recently purchased by the city will play a big part in that planned development.
Assistant to the City Manager, C. Seth Summer said, “It’s our hope that the citizens of Cleveland can rally around this new arts and entertainment district, in order to bring more vibrant economic activity into this downtown, to help revive underused and underserved areas of our community, and to really foster a sense of community pride.”
A steering committee will meet in the fall to hammer down the details.
