HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man has been arrested after a shooting incident on Lakewood Avenue that resulted in the seizure of drugs and firearms.
Around 2:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2025, deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to the 1900 block of Lakewood Avenue for reports of a person shot.
Upon arrival, deputies found several people inside the residence, with a handgun in plain view.
According to the HCSO, a male victim was found at a nearby address suffering from a gunshot wound to his right side.
The victim told HCSO deputies that himself and the suspect, Steven Howard, were involved in an argument.
During the argument, Howard fired two shots with one striking the victim.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence, where investigators seized the following:
- 252 grams of Methamphetamine
- 36 grams of Marijuana
- 17 dosage units of Gabapentin
- $3,185.00 in U.S. Currency
- 1 Taurus .38 caliber firearm
The HCSO said the street value of the narcotics is estimated to be over $20,800.
Howard is a convicted felon and is not allowed to have or own a firearm.
Howard was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center where he’s being charged with the following:
- Aggravated Domestic Assault
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Methamphetamine for Resale
- Possession of Marijuana for Resale
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Possession of a Legend Drug
