ATHENS, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Athens Fire Department (AFD) worked a structure fire Monday afternoon.
At 3:24 p.m., August 25, 2025, AFD responded to the fire on Brentwood Drive.
Upon arrival, crews found the back of the residence fully engulfed in flames.
Tri-State Mutual Aid and Athens Utilities also responded to the scene for additional aid.
According to AFD, an aggressive attack was conducted, but the home sustained significant fire and water damage.
All occupants of the residence were able to safely escape, along with three dogs and five cats.
“Quick response and aggressive fire operations by our firefighters prevented the incident from becoming much worse.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
