WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — A man was arrested in connection to a murder on New Zion Hill Road.
In the evening hours of August 19, 2025, deputies with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) responded to New Zion Hill Road in regards to a deceased man.
Upon arrival, deputies located the deceased man in a front yard.
WCSO investigators determined the victim, 53-year-old William Henry Thompson II, died from an apparent gunshot wound.
After further investigation with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), a suspect was identified as Terry Hill.
Authorities later learned that Hill was in the Chatsworth, Georgia area.
According to the WCSO, Chatsworth police officers located Hill’s vehicle on Highway 411 in Murray County and attempted a traffic stop.
Hill didn’t cooperate and fled, causing authorities to initiate a pursuit.
He was stopped shortly thereafter and taken into custody by the WCSO.
Hill was taken to the WCSO Detention Center and is being held on the charge of Murder.
