CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Developers say that Erlanger Park is still on schedule to open next April.
This update was provided at Thursday morning’s Sports Authority Board meeting.
The board approved some design changes including raising the field by 10 feet.
This was due to concerns from TDEC about contaminated groundwater on an adjacent property.
They say these changes will not impact the construction budget of one hundred and 12 million dollars.
They also commented on how the stadium performed during this week’s flooding rains.
Andy Stone of Perimeter Properties said, “I know we got a lot of water yesterday. One of the things I was telling the team earlier. We designed a drainage system and a field stability system to handle excess water flows as part of the early work we did was the jack and bore underneath the interstate to make sure that the stadium drained. We have no delays, even with all of the intense rains that we had. Can’t say the same for TDOT, but we were able to drain the field and get back to work.”
The first game at Erlanger Park is scheduled for April 14-th, 20-26 when the Lookouts host the Montgomery Biscuits.
