CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF)- A Bradley County judge is warning a man charged with the murder of his ex-wife against stalling future proceedings.
Craig Liner is charged with felony murder in the January shooting death of Karen Liner at her Cleveland home.
Video evidence at a previous hearing showed a man identified as Craig shooting Karen in her driveway.
Friday, he reappeared in front of a judge without an attorney in a hearing live streamed by WCLE 104.1
Liner says he is unable to pay his attorney, Matthew Rogers, because he is unable to access his funds due to a previous court order.
However, Judge Sandra Donaghy says that he has appointed someone as a power of attorney, and that she will not let this issue derail proceedings.
She said, “I am not going to let anybody’s manipulation of the system or for that matter, civil cases are not going to control the criminal docket. If you don’t get a lawyer, be it is Mr. Rogers or anyone else, I’m not going to continue this court date, so I will not tolerate any delay or stalling tactics by anybody.”
The trial in this case has been scheduled for next May as the next hearing in this case will concern the attorney issue.
