CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Those who frequent the Glenwood Community Center will have a new resource to check their health. The American Health Association has placed a Heart Hub inside of that center in collaboration with the Office of Community Health and the Journey Health Foundation.
It is the second such hub inside of a Chattanooga public center, joining one that was placed inside of the Downtown public library.
It features a Blood Pressure Monitor that can give users their readings.
The Heart Association says that this allows those who might not have regular access to healthcare a resource to monitor their health.
Stacy Sharp, a nurse navigator for Chattanooga’s Office of Community Health, said, “We’ve already seen many people taking advantage of it being there. I have already had some fantastic health education discussions with people about their personal health about things related to blood pressure or unrelated to blood pressure. It’s opened some great opportunities to connect people to local resources for care.”
The Heart Hubs also come with connections to resources available for those needing health care.
