HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Health Department has announced they are bringing back their Back to School Open House event.
It is a free event to the public.
The Health Department will be providing free vaccine records, free backpacks filled with school supplies, free food from local venders, and pediatric vaccines among other services and activities.
They say last year’s inaugural event was a smashing success, and want to make it bigger and better for 2025.
Joeli Pifer, Communications Director for the Health Department, said, “We didn’t know what to expect our first year, we were hoping maybe we would get a hundred families and just help the community, and we ended up receiving 1,500-2,000 people, so it blew us out of the water. So this year we are more prepared for that. We’ve made it bigger and better than ever before and we’re really excited for this event and hope it’s just a fun night for everybody.”
Children must be present with an adult to receive a free backpack.
It will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Health Department’s location on Third Street.
