CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Three new flavors are on the self at Chattanooga’s oldest legal distillery.
News 12 spoke with Grant McCracken who is the lead distiller on these new flavors.
The first flavor is a brand new item Chattanooga Whiskey has never attempted. A whiskey seltzer.
McCracken told us about the new Ginger Infused Highball. “This is our first canned whiskey seltzer. It’s inspired by the Japanese highball style and it’s infused with five all natural ingredients including lemon peel orange peel and of course ginger”
He told News 12 they make it exclusively with Chattanooga Whiskey 91 and include only four grams of sugar.
“Ginger Infused Highball is $16.99 for four pack. It is 8% alcohol so you got to be aware of that. It is basically kind of like a two for one on each can so tread lightly.” said McCracken.
The second new summer item draws its inspiration from Italy.
McCracken said, “We also have our Bourbon Barrel Limecello which if you’re familiar with the classic Italian limoncello style, it was made in that style, except we bourbon barreled it for three months.”
They make the Bourbon Barreled Limecello with 130 pounds of fresh lime and lemon peel.
The Bourbon Barreled Limecello is $44.99.
Chattanooga Whiskey’s last flavor has an interesting backstory.
McCracken warned News 12 that this was a top secret item.
He said, “We’ve just recently disclosed this. 10 years ago, a UFO crashed on our rooftop and a bottle similar to this was inside. We spent the next 10 years and pretty much all of the company’s resources reverse-engineering this thing and finally we’ve disclosed it.”
With the help of extraterrestrial life Batch Alpha or Intergalactic Comet Crusher.
They make it with 42 different botanicals. McCracken said, “it’s really driven by a lot of lemon flavor, a lot of fresh mint we put into there and then also vanilla bean as well. Those three flavors are really kind of driving the flavor profile of Comet Crusher
