CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Hamilton County Schools say TCAP test results have gone up in every subject.
They say this is the second straight year student test scores have gone up in math, science, english-language arts, and social studies.
Data shows that scores went up by less than a percent for English and Science, and up to 3 percent in Social Studies.
School officials say they believe these results show that their strategies for improving student retention are working.
Shannon Moody, the Chief Strategy Officer for Hamilton County Schools said, “The academic press is really around pushing students to have higher level thinking, to dig into the curriculum. Aligning the curriculum with high quality tasks in front of them. The personalization piece is really making sure our kids are connected to things they love in school, love in the subject, and really take ownership of what they’re learning there too.”
This follows the announcement by the Tennessee Department of Education that scores have gone up in each subject area across the state.
Moody says they are expecting more data to be released later this summer showing how each school individually did.
