HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) – A family on the Fourth of July escapes a house fire without injuries Friday night.
At 11:55pm, a homeowner called 911 reporting a garage fire located at 7307 Friendship Lane.
Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene confirming a residential fire.
Firefighters quickly established water supply and conducted an aggressive attack to contain the fire.
Crews were able to prevent fire from spreading to the main area of the home.
Dallas Bay VFD Chief Markus Fritts reported, “the homeowner advised they had smelled smoke and went to look for the source. He opened the garage door and found the fire. The homeowner suffered burns to his hands when he opened the garage door.”
HCEMS was on the scene to check out the homeowner’s injuries to his hands.
Dallas Bay VFD officials reported damages are estimated at $300,000.
The cause will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
