CHATTANOOGA. Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County’s new Mobile Health Unit is officially on the road.
It launched with stops at the Soddy-Daisy Food City on Wednesday, and Chester Frost Park today.
The launch of this mobile health unit coincides with the closure of the Hamilton County health clinic in Soddy-Daisy.
The staff from that clinic now work inside this bus, which can provide a variety of health services.
The Hamilton County Health Department says this will expand their outreach into rural areas of the county.
Joeli Pifer, the Communications Manager for the Health Department, said, “The big thing with this unit is that the point is convenience. We want to be where you are at in the community, so that is the point of being at Chester Frost is that, if you’re out taking your kids for a swim, you’re enjoying that day, but also as a parent you’re always thinking of the next things right, and what’s coming up? Of course, school is coming up. So this offers the opportunity to get those childhood vaccines that are required by school, so you can check one thing off of your bucket list while getting those other things done at once, convenience is the key.”
The Health Department has a calendar of where the Mobile Health Unit will be and what services they will offer.
We have a link to that calendar here.
