Tennessee Aquarium’s Alison Pryor joins News 12’s Amelia Greer to give us the latest update on this year’s penguin chick! Guests can catch a glimpse of the chick, enjoy some local beer tastings, some swag, and an after-hours tour of the aquarium with the return of ‘Fish and Sips!’
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The newest penguin chick has finally hatched and guests have a chance to see the baby chick now and with a special event!
The penguin chick hatched at the end of May and parents Carla and Bigfoot are delighted at their new addition! Alison Pryor with the Tennessee Aquarium says Papa Bigfoot is taking great care of the baby. While the baby was tiny when it hatched, it has grown 20 times its weight since.
The gender has yet to be determined as a blood test is required. The aquarium will find out the gender of the baby penguin in the fall with a special auction event for the naming rights.
Now, guests can visit the Ocean Journey building and see the baby penguin at Penguin Rock.
Guests can also have a special aquarium experience with their upcoming ‘Fish and Sips’ event on Saturday, July 19 at 6:30 P.M. Guests will get to tour the aquarium after hours, enjoy tastings of local brews, and get special swag like a specially designed bucket hat and tote bag!
