DEKALB COUNTY, Al. (WDEF) — A former DeKalb County school system employee has been arrested on various felony charges in Georgia.
Michael Lance Brown has been accused of manufacturing, uploading, and sending child pornography via the internet.
According to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader, Brown was utilizing a hidden video recorder to obtain images.
Brown was arrested on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 and is being held at the Chattooga County jail on the following charges:
- Sexual Exploitation of children – Felony (6 counts)
- Computer or Electronic Pornography and child exploitation – Felony (6 counts)
- Unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance- Felony (11 counts)
- Possession of eavesdropping device- Felony (2 counts)
- Surreptitious recording of intimate parts- Felony (11 counts)
- Transmission of photography or video depicting nudity or sexually explicit conduct of an adult – Felony (5 counts)
Reports indicate Brown was a volleyball coach at Valley Head High School.
DeKalb County schools released a statement, saying the arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation in Chattooga County, Georgia.
They also said that the charges weren’t connected to their students.
Brown has since been “removed from all duties pending the outcome of this investigation”, according to the school system.
