RINGGOLD, Ga. (WDEF) – A new piece of public art is now on display in downtown Ringgold.
The 19 foot stainless steel sculpture, “Threaded,” has been installed behind City Hall and is already drawing attention from residents and visitors.
The sculpture was created by Chattanooga artist Isaac Duncan III and was selected in part because of its connection to Ringgold’s history.
According to city officials, the artwork reflects the area’s long tradition of sewing, quilting, and needlework businesses.
Drew Sherrill, Ringgold’s Director of Communications and Tourism, said the sculpture gives residents another reason to celebrate their community’s heritage.
“To have an art piece that plays into our history through the way it looks and feels, resembling a threaded needle, gives people a sense of pride in our community.”
Duncan’s work has been collected by several organizations throughout the region, including Erlanger Children’s Hospital.
Sherrill said the city is honored to feature the work of a well-known local artist in the heart of downtown.
City leaders hope the sculpture will serve as both a cultural landmark and a reminder of Ringgold’s unique history for years to come.
