SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- A crash on Highway 111 in Sequatchie County has shut down that highway.
News 12 can confirm the scene of the crash is past the scenic overlook on the southbound lanes before reaching the top of Lewis Chapel Mountain.
One of the vehicles we saw with significant damage is a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office SUV.
TDOT logs indicate the crash was reported around 8:30 p.m. central time Wednesday night and involved multiple vehicles according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Tennessee Highway Patrol was on scene at that crash, having shut down Highway 111 between East Valley Road and Lewis Chapel Road.
While that road is closed, drivers from Dunlap to Chattanooga will have to take Highway 127 over Signal Mountain to get over Walden’s Ridge.
We also observed a large law enforcement presence at Erlanger Hospital’s emergency room overnight in downtown Chattanooga.
It is unclear if this is connected to the crash.
We have reached out to the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and are working to learn more details.
