News 12 This Morning: Alison Pryor joins News 12’s Amelia Greer as the Tennessee Aquarium celebrates a busy season for their animals and conservation resources. Alison breaks down how the organization is spreading awareness of the environment during Earth Week and a special race for an endangered species.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Aquarium is gearing up for a busy spring with events catered toward conservation.
Aquarists will be outside the plaza on Earth Day to educate kids and adults about wildlife.
That ‘Earth Week,’ staff will also be partnering with local schools to help cleanup a waterway in the area.
Looking ahead to May, the second annual ‘Race for the Laurel Dace’ will kick off in Spring City, TN. This initiative raises awareness of an endangered native species.
You can celebrate ‘Laurel Dace Day’ on May 16 with a 5k, 10k, or Half Mile Fun Run.
Throughout this time, aquarium visitors can also anticipate heightened activity at Penguin Rock. The Gentoo and Macaroni penguins celebrated ‘Rock Day’ on April 2, and will be nesting throughout the spring and summer.
