KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) – On Sunday, around 11:55 a.m., the Piney Volunteer Fire Department and Spencer Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire on Rushing Wind Ln.
According to Piney Volunteer Fire Department, units arrived to find an acre of sage grass and underbrush burning.
Firefighters used rakes and leaf blowers to put a line around the fire to slow the spread.
A hand line was then used to extinguish flames near the road as the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Forestry crew respond with dozers.
Teams worked quickly to put a line around the fire with the plow.
After a couple of hours, units were able to get a line around the fire, and it was contained.
They say the fire burned around 5 acres.
