CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Salvation Army of Chattanooga partnered with Chattanooga Football Club on December 7, 2025, for a special day of volunteering.
From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., 66 youth athletes, ages 11 to 13, assisted with tasks around the Social Services building on McCallie Avenue.
The young volunteers sorted donations, stocked the client-choice food pantry, tidied the facility, and decorated for Christmas.
With the Social Services building running multiple programs like Recreate Café, the Blessing Place, and the Community Market, volunteer support was critical to keeping services running smoothly.
Major Douglas McClure emphasized the importance of volunteers, while CFC Youth Director Miguel Rodrigues highlighted that the event helped develop young people as responsible members of the community, not just as soccer players.
The Salvation Army continues to accept donations at the Social Services building year-round to support its programs for the unhoused and those in need.
